Lauren Flax & Liz Wight (Pale Blue) – I’d Risk It All To Be With You

1 Jan

Happy New Year T&D readers and listeners. We apologise for a bit of a slow down post wise in December – the year end columns take a lot of preparation and leave us a bit spent. However, it’s 2024 and the quest for the best new music NEVER ends so here we are!

An EP which dropped in the final quarter of 2023 is ‘Liz & Lauren’ by Lauren Flax with Liz Wight from Pale Blue. We discovered this record right at the end of December after all our best of the year posts were done. Therefore we are stating right now that we are permitting this release to feature in our best of 2024 lists in 12 months time!! We actually discovered ‘I’d Risk It All To Be With You’ after running through DJ Mag’s top 100 tracks of 2023 (thanks to Bruce Tantum for writing about it – we owe this one to you). On first listen we were smitten and the vinyl was ordered, despatched and delivered within 24 hours such was our need to have this in our collection.

The whole EP will leave you entranced – it’s the most hypnotic and addictive piece of melodic and emotive house we’ve heard in some time. The beats bounce along yet at the same time soothe and Liz’s hushed vocals feel like lines from a classic romance noir movie being sampled on record. A 5 track release to immerse yourself in and don’t be afraid to get lost.
