So here we have a Kenyan Swede in the form of Beldina. She’s chums with Robyn which can only be a good thing. Here’s her recent single What Can I Say.
I’m really enjoying the minimal R’n’B revival we have going on, harking back to Aayliah. LIZ’s output so far has been flawless and Hush is the best yet. File alongside Quadron and Nite Jewel.
When not busy with Robin Thicke and Daft Punk, Pharrell has been developing another protege – meet Ms Leah Labelle. Absolutely loving this single.
Have posted this before but it’s finally out in the UK. Think Lana meets Aaliyah.
Giant Drag’s Annie Hardy has had quite a few years of it; dropped by their major label, partner in crime Micah left the band for the 3rd time, a stint in rehab for prescription medication addiction, bankrupt, homeless….need I go on? She’s back in the UK later this year to put Giant Drag to bed as she moves on with new projects and in good health. This was the song from their album Hearts and Unicorns which made me a fan. The sound has been described as grunge-gaze and I could go for that.
Not quite sure how this passed me by at the time, knowing my penchant for Scandinavian pop tartlets. Name The Pet is soon to return with a new album but in the meantime here’s this electro-tastic little tune from 2009.
