Kim Wilde and Nik Kershaw – Rocking Around The Christmas Tree

Gratuitous re-blog because the link is broken from the previous post. The Wilde Winter Songbook is THE soundtrack for everyone putting up their crimbo decs this weekend.

YYZ – Lost In The Mix

I loved this track when I first discovered it earlier this year. Very belatedly a video has appeared and has reignited my love of the tune.

Tina Arena – Only Lonely

A stunning version of one of the standout tracks from Tina’s new album Reset. This really is so beautiful.

Kim Wilde – Hope

Kim Wilde – Hope

This Kim Wilde one-new-video-a-day thingy is spoiling us rotten and something I could very easily become accustomed to. A pop video early advent calendar – how lovely! Hope is one of the quite stunning new tracks on the Wilde Winter Songbook I shall continue to champion.

Francis and the Lights – Like A Dream

Francis and the Lights – Like A Dream

Another EP well worth the couple of quid to purchase it this week is the new one from Francis and the Lights. I heard the track Etc earlier this year and it had that same smooth, soulful vibe than Rhye/Quadron/Miguel have been so working so well lately. There’s a Prince/Scritti Politti vibe happening for me too across the EP.

Say Lou Lou – Better In The Dark

Say Lou Lou – Better In The Dark

The new EP from the girls was released this week. The lead track is Better In The Dark but track 2 on the EP, Beloved, could well become one of my favourite songs of the year. Surely one of the most anticipated albums of 2014, although I said the same about Say Lou Lou at the end of 2012 so who knows!

Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Young Blood

A complete change of direction for Sophie with this first track from her new album due in January. This is quite lovely and I was not expecting to be quite so taken with this. Pretty video too.

Kim Wilde & Nik Kershaw – Rocking Around The Christmas Tree

So Kimmy and Rick are back on a train! They are joined on this occasion by Nik Kershaw (as well as Scarlett and Mandy Wilde and Kim’s manager Nick!). This time last year it all kicked off when Kim and Rick got a bit tiddly at the Magic Fm Christmas Party and did an impromptu drunken performance for commuters on the way home on the train! Proper yuletide fun. PS Kimmy looks bloody fantastic. This is the 3rd video from the Wilde Winter Songbook.

Mereki – Blue Lake

Mereki – Blue Lake

Aussie-via-LA singer Mereki has picked up some attention, understandably so, on Popjustice this week. Blue Lake is a very welcome introduction to what should be a great 2014 album. Only now do I realise that Mereki features on one of my favourite Goldroom tracks from earlier in the year.

Erik Hassle – Talk About It

Erik Hassle – Talk About It

A couple of years ago Erik Hassle’s Hurtful should have been a massive international number one record – but somehow it just didn’t quite happen. I am still waiting for someone to cover that track and make it huge. Erik is back and his new single is a bit less pop but just as epic. The chorus nails it.
