Still processing this one. Early and very stripped Bananarama meets rapped PC Music meets London Grammar. I’m confused but in a good way.
Theophilus London featuring Ariel Pink – Revenge
27 NovTheophilus London and Ariel Pink make quite a pairing on this very British sounding mid 80s new wave indie jam. Here’s some ‘Revenge’. Sounds like Seal fronting Tears For Fears.
Cat – Weapon Of War
27 NovCat Pierce, yes she of The Pierces, has shared a new solo track ‘Weapon Of War’. It’s a bit good. Reminds me of ‘Generals’-era Mynabirds which is absolutely fine with me.
Death Team – Messed Up
27 NovComing off like Rebecca and Fiona’s older and even naughtier siblings, Dream Team just dropped the video for their ought to be a smash single ‘Messed Up’. Here it is.
Battle Tapes with Party Nails – Solid Gold
22 NovStill loving the tune – proper glampop electroclash stomper. Here’s the video. Who doesn’t love a bit of a back of the van performance with some pretty blue smoke. Hope Party Nails has some more tunes for us in 2017.
Client Liaison featuring Tina Arena – A Foreign Affair
22 NovThis album (‘Diplomatic Immunity’) dropped through my letterbox today (in sparkly CD format) and it’s every bit the delight I expected it to be. However, I had NO idea my queen Ms Arena was involved! ‘A Foreign Affair’ is an immediate highlight – Tina goes St Lucia – yes please! Great collab and general thumbs up on first listen to a wonderful record. Can’t find a Soundcloud, YouTube or Spotify link in the UK so here’s the BandCamp.

San Cisco – SloMo
22 NovThrilled to hear a 3rd San Cisco album is in the pipeline. Here’s the first taste of the new record. ‘SloMo’ is a funky little bit of jangly indie pop in true SC style. Love these Aussies.
Marie Dahlstrom – Mine
20 NovScandi with a bit of Tokyo flavour is what the video for Marie’s new tune ‘Mine’ is all about. The song is a perfect-for-a-lazy-Sunday duvet day. It makes you feel all warm and lovely. Super bit of grown up soul pop.
Lizzy Land – Sweet Melodies
20 NovThis one seems to be everywhere on the blogosphere at the moment. I resisted initially but that was pointless because the song has grown into quite the earworm. It’s the subtlety that clearly makes it work.
Midnight Pool Party – Waiting
20 NovGreat band name. The Aussies have this glamorous poolside vibe off to a tee. Midnight Pool Party share the first single from their forthcoming EP and it’s a beaut.
