I have only ever been a somewhat casual fan of Arcade Fire – never quite getting them but at the same time feeling the need to buy each of their albums. However the hook up with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy for their new album is intriguing and on the basis of this single will see their sound develop into something quite different. Love the video too.
Jessica Mauboy – To The End Of the Earth
26 OctJessica Mauboy – To The End Of the Earth
I am still playing catch up with Jessica’s new album Beautiful. This track preceded Pop A Bottle and suggests the album is definitely worth a listen. Hoping for similar quality from Samantha Jade’s forthcoming long player.
Rogue Vogue feat Patrick Baker – Until The Dawn
26 OctRogue Vogue feat Patrick Baker – Until The Dawn
The 90s dance influence continues on this lovely little jam from Rogue Vogue. Even better is that it is presently a free download via his FB page. Get your Saturday morning dancing shoes on and throw some shapes.
Vaults – Cry No More
26 OctVaults are the latest mysterious, electropop outfit dropping a track on the web and then letting the music do the work. They are already being mentioned in the same breath as Chvrches and London Grammar so big things are expected already.
The Saturdays – Disco Love (Live and acoustic at Transmitter)
21 OctThe Saturdays – Disco Love (Live and acoustic at Transmitter)
Great to hear the girls sing this so well live. They don’t get to show off their harmonies too often which is a shame when they are as lovely as this.
Rebecca Ferguson – I Hope
21 OctProbably the classiest of all the X Factor alumni, Rebecca Ferguson presents I Hope, the first single from her soon to be released 2nd album. It’s gimmick free and super soulful as we have come to expect from Liverpool’s finest.
Chelsea Lankes – Ghost
21 OctWell this is a beautiful little gem. Definitely one for fans of Banks’ understated haunting electronica. Thanks to Kick Kick Snare for the tip re this one.
Milosh – This Time (Jetlag album)
20 OctMilosh – This Time (Jetlag album)
Milosh provides the vocals on one of my top 5 albums of the year – this being Rhye’s Woman. I had no idea he had so many solo albums and is about to release another. Here is the first track, on which Milosh wraps his smooth vocals around the most lush electronic beats.
Astronomyy – Drivin Me Crazy
20 OctHard to believe this is a sound coming out from Worcestershire. Don’t know much about this guy but this tune is soundtracking my Sunday evening quite nicely thank you very much.
MØ – XXX 88 ft. Diplo
20 OctAnother young lady doing it her own way is Denmark’s Mo. Like a number of artists this year Mo has focused on EPs/tracks rather than an album and has just released a four track EP called Bikini Daze (out Oct 20 – today!). Waste of Time and Pilgrim are two of my favourite singles of the year so far. Her live show is something else to behold – I was lucky enough to catch her at Latitude and her energy was incredible.
