Maya Killtron – Satin Sheets

30 Apr

So good to be sharing new Maya Killtron music. ‘Satin Sheets’ has that 80s electrofunk sound she does so well but takes it forward for some 90s RnB with a whiff of Mariah’s ‘Fantasy’ too.

Margrete – Joy

30 Apr

Presently a student at the Norwegian Academy Of Music, Margrete just shared her stunning new single ‘Joy’. It’s a shimmering and meandering slice of electronic pop with a bit of jolt of a key change towards the end – just to keep you on your toes.

Kacey Musgraves – Space Cowboy

30 Apr

My 2nd favourite album of the year has a new video for one of its many outstanding cuts. Here’s Kacey’s divine ‘Space Cowboy’.

Secret Rendezvous – Never Out Of Fashion

30 Apr

Loving the latest single from Secret Rendezvous’ ‘For Real’ album. On this one it’s Chaka’s take on ‘I Feel For You’ meets Control-era Janet. Super funky.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – Surrender

29 Apr

These guys have been around for yonks and they’re back with a very modern bit of Tove Styrke-meets-computer-game-bleep pop. Super cute video too.

Clairo – 4Ever

29 Apr

Squelchy, laid back and totally summery funky pop bop from Clairo. ‘4Ever’ has some gorgeous artwork to boot as well.

Saara Aalto – Dance!!!

28 Apr

Ahead of her attempt to take Finland to Eurovision glory, Saara just released her popfabulous new album ‘Wild Wild Wonderland’. Here’s ‘Dance!!!’ which is Whitney’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ given a throbbing Robyn-esque Scandi-banger makeover.

Annalia – Affinity

28 Apr

Drawn to this one when I heard it was co-produced by Florio – big fan of that fella. I wasn’t disappointed as Annalia has delivered a dreamy, gorgeous, pastel-coloured pop tune and a half.

Bossie – Not Pictured/Strawberry Moon

28 Apr

Not sure how I’ve managed to miss out on Bossie before now. She’s been making some super fun indie pop for a few years but I’m only just hearing her this weekend. I’m enjoying the discovery. Bossie’s album ‘Not Pictured’ has arrived. Here’s the recent video for ‘Strawberry Moon’ which brings to mind Paramore’s recent 80s-tinged output. Also try album opener ‘Mild At Heart’ which begins with some ‘Cambodia’-esque synths.

Scavenger Hunt – Name

27 Apr

These guys just never let me down – way to keep the quality control set to high. ‘Name’ is a bit less punchy and a bit more dreamy in a Chelsea Lankes kind of way. Could totally be a John Hughes movie love theme. Sublime.
