Chløë Black – Cruel Intentions

29 Apr

Blogging about this super talented young woman as much as I can as is highlighted by my repeated plugging of her track ’27 Club’. However, don’t miss this track from the new EP which is also brimming with melodrama and an epicness which will do little to stop me referring to Ms Black as Lana Del Winehouse and I mean that as the highest form of praise. Cinematic and soulful. Cine-soul?

Tamaryn – Hands All Over Me

29 Apr

Tamaryn’s sound has shifted quite considerably on new single ‘Hands All Over Me’. Gary Numan-alike synths open the track and although the floaty vocal is still apparent there’s a upbeat vibe somewhat new to the Tamaryn sound. Sounds good!

Leo Leoson – Just In L.A

29 Apr

Part 80s movie soundtrack a la Olivver The Kid and part male Lana like Josef Salvat, Popjustice today brought the awesomely named Leo Leoson to my attention. Leo’s new song ‘Just In L.A’ is quite gorgeous for all of the reasons highlighted in the previous sentence.

Kat Vinter – Downtime

28 Apr

Another great EP released this week comes courtesy of Kat Vinter. Here’s the video for ‘Downtime’. That song is pretty representative of the EP which is dark and brooding electronica but with a dash of pop – a much more accessible Fever Ray if you will.

AYER – In My Headphones EP

28 Apr

AYER came to my attention last year on the still-sounds-very-fresh ‘Circle Down’. He’s teased a few things here and there but today properly releases his altogether very sophisticated electronic pop EP’In My Headphones’. It’s quality stuff blending the aching tenderness of How To Dress Well with the Scandipop meets AOR of Erik Hassle.

CAPPA – Killin’ It

28 Apr

CAPPA scores a hatrick of understated minimal electronic pop gems with the release of ‘Killin’ It’ this week. This comes in advance of a proper EP and ensures CAPPA is mentioned in the same breath as the growing army of electronic pop princesses blowing up in 2015….see also Chelsea Lankes, Ryn Weaver, Verite, Phoebe Ryan and Elle Exxe (to name a few).

K.I.D. – New Emotion

27 Apr

The debut EP from K.I.D. is something else. I just love how this pair are trying out lots of sounds to see what works. They look like Sleigh Bells and sound like Gaga – on some tracks at least. Couldn’t be more excited about an act this year.

Mariah Carey – Infinity

27 Apr

Not as instant as much of ‘The Elusive Chanteuse’ was, I am hoping ‘Infinity’ will be a grower. It’s taken from yet another Greatest Hits collection from Mariah to coincide with her forthcoming Vegas residency. Just wish she would dabble with disco a bit more as she did with ‘Meteorite’ and ‘You Don’t Know’ from the last album.

Rasmus Faber feat Frida Sundemo – Hideaway

27 Apr

I’m a huge fan of Frida’s and consider myself very lucky to have a CD copy of her debut album which I imported from Japan. She has sprinkled some pixie dust all over Rasmus Faber’s production on the glorious ‘Hideaway’. Hope there’s more to come from Frida in 2015.
