Amish 82 featuring Kirsti Huke – My Name

31 Oct

Track of the day today is this stunning slice of Norwegian 80s movie soundtrack heaven from Amish 82. Definitely one for fans of Niki & The Dove and M83 and dare I say Laura Branigan and Berlin.

Sabina Ddumba – Time

31 Oct

Sabina surprised us all with the sudden release of her debut album ‘Homeward Bound’ – a delightful surprise indeed. ‘Time’ is a modern RnB track and shows Sabina can make her vocal work on pretty much any sound. I had a quick listen to the album and it seems a diverse affair.

Delaire – Healing In Love

31 Oct

I adored Delaire’s last single which was a mini bop and a half. ‘Healing In Love’ is much more subdued but very much the sonic equivalent of a warm bubble bath – beautifully relaxing and enveloping.

Girl Friend – Eight In The Morning

31 Oct

Girl Friend strike me as an act still trying to find their sound and that’s just fine. It’s good to play around with different styles but we can’t help but hope they go for the poppier end of the spectrum – certainly they’ve hit the jackpot with new single ‘Eight In The Morning’ which is their best for a while.

Una Healy – The Waiting Game

31 Oct

Una from The Saturdays has an album due very soon and the first single is Ward Thomas meets The Corrs with some Wilson Phillips thrown in. It’s a pretty nice sound to be honest. Chilled vibes and gimmick free – not chasing any cool points. This was always going to be the acoustic Saturday if ever there was one.

Emma Louise – Illuminate

30 Oct

Lifted from her outstanding second album ‘Supercry’ this is Emma Louise’s new single ‘Illuminate’. It’s so subtle and just a delight for the ears – as is the whole record. ‘Supercry’ will be sure to finish well in my top 50 albums of the year list which is beginning to take shape.

Young Summer – Heart In Slo Mo

30 Oct

Super song title. Thankfully it’s a delight of a tune too. Young Summer just dropped her stunning collection entitled ‘You Would Have Loved It Here’. Her dreamy voice, the smooth synth sounds, bubbling guitar – it all works wonderfully well.
