Tina Arena – Chains (with Jessica Mauboy/The Veronicas)

30 Nov

So Tina totally, and rightly, stole the show at the ARIAs last week when she was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Her vocal here is simply stunning like the woman herself in every sense of the word. What an incredible artist she is.

Chairlift – Romeo

30 Nov

Following one of the most stunning singles of the year was going to be tough but Chairlift have managed to keep the momentum going. ‘Romeo’ is less glitchy than ‘Ch-Ching’ but still has a St Vincent vibe to it which is always a very good thing of course.

Paperwhite – Get Away

30 Nov

Paperwhite give us a little taster of what we can expect from them in 2016 with new track ‘Get Away’. These guys are most certainly influenced by Scandipop as well as a slightly dream wavey 80s nostalgia. Whatever their inspiration they always deliver the goods. Looking forward to what they deliver next year.

Anna Lidman – Jacob

26 Nov

Shamelessly reblogging this from the always wonderful Scandipop blog. Anna has an EP set for next year and this first taster is really something. Understated pop before bursting into a soaring ABBA-at-their-more-dramatic like chorus.

Elin Rigby -By My Side

26 Nov

Elin follows her ‘A Friend With A Car’ single with the more darker textures of ‘By My Side’. Reminds me of the kind of track found on the previous Medina album which is a great pop┬árecord.

Retro Culture – Cold

26 Nov

Darn it the Aussies do this brand of electronic synth-heavy indie so flipping well. Retro Culture just dropped the anything but ‘Cold’ – a super warm late night stroll along a moonlit beach of a song.

HONNE – Gone Are The Days

26 Nov

HONNE’s Midnight Caller late night radio stylings have taken a turn for the funk on new tune ‘Gone Are The Days’. I expect these guys to feature in all the ones to watch in 2016 columns. They have an album’s worth of top tunes already so just watch them fly next year.
