Bark Bark Disco – Honey I Love You Now

30 Dec

Super quirky bit of Maltese synthpop right here. Kinda like LCD Soundsystem meets Le Tigre meets Shamir. Taken from this fella’s forthcoming ‘Holy Smokes’ album which arrives¬† early in 2018.

JB Dunckel – Hold On

29 Dec

One half of Air, JB Dunckel is releasing a solo album in March called ‘H+’ and first single ‘Hold On’ is rather gorgeous. Artwork and visuals are very pretty too.

James Blake – Vincent

27 Dec

So tough to improve upon Don McLean’s ‘Vincent’. However, James Blake has really made it his own on this sublime recording of the classic song.

FRAUDS – Playelle

26 Dec

This Paris based trio just dropped a new EP called ‘Ellipse’. From it here’s ‘Playelle’ which is Lorde meets Chvrches and it’s a good bit of indie synthpop.

No Frills Twins – Lonely With You

25 Dec

Yes it’s Christmas Day but I never miss the chance to share some near perfect new pop with you. Stumbled across this one via Fiona Bevan’s social media (she co-wrote it with Biff Stannard I believe). This could be a big pop moment in early 2018.

Dady – Friends

24 Dec

This is interesting. Male/female duo Dady shared ‘Friends’ recently.¬† Lead singer Rachel has a great pop voice and they make some quirky tuneage which feels like it’s not straying far from the mainstream.

Brasko – Static

24 Dec

Don’t know a whole bunch about this guy but this single came endorsed by Chelsea Lankes so I had to check it out. Glad I did as it’s some very classy 80s funk (Prince anyone?) with a Neon Indian vibe too. Loving it.

Wendy & Lisa – The Closing Of The Year

24 Dec

Another of the great underrated festive tunes right here. This one by my beloved Wendy & Lisa and taken from the Robin Williams movie ‘Toys’. The video clip is not the best quality but the song is so lovely I’d thought I’d share it anyway.

Scavenger Hunt – Ghosts

24 Dec

The Midnight working with Scavenger Hunt was always going to produce something magical. Here’s ‘Ghosts’ which is dreamy 80s synthpop of the highest order.

Hive Riot – Lovers In Outer Space

20 Dec

I’m seeing UFOs everywhere (musically speaking) since Kim Wilde announced her forthcoming ‘Here Come The Aliens’ album. Hive Riot have their own intergalactic bop which actually has tinges of soon to be Kim Wilde collaborator Frida Sundemo about it.
