Oriion – Live Another Lie

30 Jun

Very rapid reblog on this one now that there’s a video. It’s one of my favourite tunes from the past month. It’s a monster pop song. Hope it gets the attention it deserves.

The Mynabirds – Cocoon

30 Jun

Thrilled to learn that the new Mynabirds record ‘Be Here Now’ is landing in August. Here’s ‘Cocoon’ from it. It has that same dreamy feel I adored on the ‘Lovers Know’ album which was one of the best albums of the year in 2015.

Dusky Grey – Call Me Over

30 Jun

Strong endorsement from Mr Popjustice himself on this one. Nice to hear a decent male/female vocal – they sound remarkably like what Zara Larsson and Shawn Mendes would should they ever duet together.

Matthew Young – Collect

30 Jun

Sony Music New Zealand are on to winner with this release. Matthew has delivered a brilliant bit of wonky pop with ‘Collect’. Up there in quality with the best stuff from Andy Bull’s ‘Sea Of Approval’ record.

Stockholm Noir – Boy Like A Girl (featuring Ofelia)

30 Jun

Well this is rather special. These guys have been getting a lot of love on the blogs and deservedly so. ‘Boy Like A Girl’ is absolutely stunning. A perfect, pulsating Scandi synth gem with just a whiff of Moroder too (just a touch of the Donna Summer to this one).

Myzica – Higher Places

30 Jun

New tune and a shift in sound for Myzica. ‘Higher Places’ has a glitchy, sunny, indie glow. It’s good.

Blessed – My Yute

30 Jun

This one goes off! This track is my introduction to these South Londoners. Whilst it’s a very British sound it’s also got that US glam house feel a la Shamir or Hercules & Love Affair.
