Peking Duk & Jack River – Sugar

28 Feb

One of 2019’s best pop moments so far is the incredible Jack River teaming up with Peking Duk on the retro fresh ‘Sugar’. Here’s the new video which makes us fall in love with the song all over again.

Morabeza Tobacco – Ally McBeal

28 Feb

More woozy, dreamy sadpop from these lovely Swedes. ‘Ally McBeal’ (oh how we loved that show – someone get it on Netflix!) is taken from their forthcoming album on the exquisite Luminelle label.

Hildur – 1993

28 Feb

Hildur returns with her best track she since floored us with ‘Bumpy Road’. There’s something in the phrasing and slightly melancholic diary type lyrics which reminds us so much of Maja Francis (a T&D favourite). ‘1993’ is really lovely.

Broods – Hospitalized (St Lucia remix)

23 Feb

Two of our faves collide on this one. Our bestest track from Broods’ recent album gets this synthtastic makeover from those lovely St Lucia peeps. This one properly goes off.

Teenage Love – This City

22 Feb

This Copenhagen/New Yorker pairing just shared their seven track ‘Vinyl Explosion’ release and it’s a real feast for the ears (if your ears can feast that is?). There’s a great sense of diversity across the collection and so much to really investigate. It’s electronic indie pop with all sorts of layers and quirks. Something to really immerse yourself in. Here’s a taster in the shape of ‘This City’.

Ora The Molecule – Samurai

22 Feb

These guys are making some really interesting music. Following the incredible ‘Sugar’ here’s ‘Samurai’ which just oozes class from the rich vocal to the understated beats. Hoping there’s an album on the horizon.

Alice Ivy – Close To You (featuring Flint Eastwood)

22 Feb

Here at T&D we loved Alice’s debut album. Great to have her back and making more super sunny chilled but danceable tunes. ‘Close To You’ appropriately has some beachy/swimming pool artwork because this is where this one takes you on first listen. Great vocal from Flint Eastwood too.

Alice Gray – A Little More

22 Feb

‘A Little More’ is a quality addition to Alice’s small but perfectly formed cluster of tracks. Starting like a cute little folk song, the production doesn’t really slide in until the 2nd verse. The storytelling element of the lyrics make it feel a bit like a Julia Michaels track but somehow not. Good work Alice.

Pure Bathing Culture – Devotion

22 Feb

This pair return in style with the Jenny Lewis/Rilo Kiley-esque ‘Devotion’. The track is taken from their forthcoming ‘Night Pass’ record which just might have some of the most beautiful album art of the year.

Chromatics – Time Rider

19 Feb

Ruth and Johnny return with a classic take on the Chromatics’ sound. ‘Time Rider’ is the best new music from Italians Do It Better in a while and that’s saying something on the back of some wonderful releases (including Double Mixte who we adore). It has everything we love about IDIB – those Italo synths, the guitar, Ruth’s dreamy vocal delivery – yep the works.
