Client Liaison and Tina Arena – A Foreign Affair

30 Aug

Simply outstanding pop music. This deserves to be an international hit on a monster scale. Sooooo excited to see these guys in London in two weeks time.

Secret Weapons – My Blue Heaven

29 Aug

The Secret Weapons album is an absolute pop masterpiece. It blends the dreamy visuals of Sound of Arrows, the big bold pop production of St Lucia and the songwriting craft of Darren Hayes. We love our pop records this large.

The Marion Cranes – Sexy Motivation (Un Dos Tres)

29 Aug

Triple J Unearthed has brought me so much great new music over the years. This naughty little bop is the latest find. It might be the only song I have ever heard to reference a saggy bottom.

Matthew Dear featuring Tegan & Sara – Bad Ones

29 Aug

Cool new Matthew Dear track featuring our faves Tegan & Sara. ‘Bad Ones’ is a chunky electronic pop tune with lovely vocals from T&S.

Wild Eyed Boy – Stay Cool

29 Aug

Another excellent 80s sounding synthpop track from Wild Eyed Boy. ‘Stay Cool’ is a bit less in your face but every bit as good as ‘I Don’t Know Anymore’. Classy.

Liv Lovelle – Won’t Say Too Much

29 Aug

Huge and quirky pop banger from Liv and her new track ‘Won’t Say Too Much’. This is the kind of thing Leona Lewis should be aiming for.

John Maus – The Combine

29 Aug

This fellow has an extensive body of work yet I’m hearing him for the first time on ‘The Combine’. It’s a classy piece of cinematic synthpop and it comes from his forthcoming album ‘Screen Memories’.

Alex The Astronaut – Not Worth Hiding

28 Aug

Beautiful, strong and vulnerable set of lyrics on this one. Alex’s new EP is on the way and she channels her inner Regina Spektor on this one.

Temptress – What I Want

27 Aug

Excellent couple of tracks featured on Popjustice’s NMF this week. Including these upstarts. They look awfully young but their sound is very mature and super confident. ‘What I Want’ is a tune and a half and sounds like what Aluna George ought to be doing.

Magdalena Bay – Move Slow

27 Aug

We fell for these guys with their track ‘Neon’ and have loved their output since. However……’Move Slow’ is next level. It’s a zillion pop bops melted down into one amazing banger. It has charm, indie cool, disco feels and a touch of the Xenomania about it too.
