Back in 2014 we were obsessed with Pawws (real name Lucy Taylor). Her ‘Sugar’ EP was a sweet treat, full of what she self termed “upsetting disco”. The Pawws project seemed to be packed away as songwriting work for other artists took over (she co-wrote Dua’s ‘Be The One’ and we were early to blog that just because it was a Lucy track).
Recently it seemed Pawws was being dusted off with things being teased and dared on social media. ‘Hear You Calling’ is everything we want from Pawws in 2023. Part synthwave siren like our dear NINA but also still the perfect pop princess akin to Annie. And the cherry on the cake is the video which leans heavily into our FAVOURITE FILM OF ALL TIME ‘Lost In Translation’! So genuinely wonderful to have you back Lucy – don’t leave it so long next time please.
