Andy Bull – Slipping Away

Andy Bull’s ‘Sea of Approval’ album is almost a decade old! We’ve been wishing and hoping for something new from this chap for some time as that record remains a beaut. It would appear a new Andy Bull era has dawned. ‘Slipping Away’ has that indie funk/dance feel done so well by Hot Chip and Metronomy but there’s also an orchestral discoey-cum-bossa-nova lushness to it which reminds us of ‘Dead Already’ from Tom Aspaul’s ‘Black Country Disco’. Those are some thrilling reference points and add up to a sumptuous return to the music scene for Mr B – welcome back mister!
