Vast Hill – Keep Me High

12 May

We’ve been waiting for the return of Vast Hill for some time and ‘Keep Me High’ has not disappointed. There’s a raspberry coloured swirling mass of quality influences on this one. Those early to mid 80s synth sounds are divine and the vocal is laid back indie cool somehow embracing Saint Etienne, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Bananarama (pre-PWL). There’s a dose of sax to add a layer of sophistipop sweetening the pot even further. We’re going to put it out into the universe that we’d love to hear Vast Hill take Strawberry Switchblade’s lost classic ‘Since Yesterday’ and drench it in their pastel palette – cover version please! Gotta add that we’re digging that 80s 7″ single sleeve for the artwork.
