It must be 20 years since we discovered Emm Gryner – and that was thanks to Teases & Dares’ legend Holly Palmer. We admit to losing touch with Emm’s music but some artists find their back to you just when you need them most. We couldn’t be happier to be reconnecting with Emm after being blown away by her new record ‘Business & Pleasure’. It’s an album inspired by 70s/80s yacht pop and rock and delivered in an exquisite and magnificent manner. That voice is still crystal clear and with the warmest tone. We’re on about our 4th run through and we’ve picked two highlights (no mean feat). ‘Burn The Boats’ funks you gently whilst ‘Real Love’ is one of the most beguiling piano ballads you’ll hear all year (or any year). This record is such a wonderful surprise and jumping into album of the year contender.
