We are back to Germany for this synthwave blinder with some added Spanish solar power. Mental Exile (from Berlin) is a new synthwave name on us but thanks to the Forever Synth weekly playlist we are now linked in! Whilst the Forever Synth radio show is no more, the guys still have us covered for all the best releases in the genre. We hit play as soon as we saw the artwork for ‘Witchcraft’ and Spain’s Oblique adds a perfect pop vocal alongside a highly useful axe solo at the track’s close. This one almost sounds like a lost track from Nina’s ‘Synthian’ sessions – by that we mean the melody is sweet as can be, the synths gently pulsate and the production is lush – exuding a mysterious neon noir.
