Self Esteem – Prioritise Pleasure

‘I Do This All The Time’ has been the sleeper hit of 2021 thus far – and it deserves every bit of attention as it’s a genius stroke of pop. Proving it’s no fluke, here comes the follow up and indeed the title track of Self Esteem’s just announced sophomore album ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ (a line we have become accustomed to via the aforementioned ‘I Do This All The Time’). This new track really does stun. Opening with reasonably minimal beats, there’s nothing which hints at the explosion that’s soon to follow. A blast of industrial, metallic synths and a choir at full pelt give this a feel of FKA Twigs meets The Knife but of course with Rebecca’s distinct twist – indeed she’s making a sound all of her own.
