She’s baaaaaaaaack! Teases & Dares couldn’t be happier to share the musical return of one of our favourite voices in pop. Chelsea has been busy with lots of other important life events in the past couple of years but our little hearts fluttered when she grammed a message a month or so ago to announce that new music was finally on the way. Within seconds of that velvety voice delivering the first few lines the broadest smile appeared across our face.
‘Baseline’ is an exquisite way to reintroduce Chelsea to the scene. We always described Chelsea’s music as delightfully gimmick free, not chasing any trends and that remains the case. There’s a beautiful simplicity as well as a classic feel to ‘Baseline’ – it’s equal parts Linda Ronstadt and Phoebe Bridgers. It’s melancholic and swoonsome with both strings and guitar we didn’t expect but entirely adore. Most of all, it’s about Chelsea’s voice and gosh have we missed it. Not a single note or line is oversung, just flawlessly and tenderly delivered in an almost dream-like manner.
