Sonny Ism – This Modern Life/Time 4 Love

We totally missed the announcement from one of our faves that he has a new album on the way. Sonny Ism’s ‘Union; Integration Of The Shadow’ was a delight and that record is being followed up with ‘Island Impressions’ in July. We first came to know Sonny (real name Xavier Bacash) through his work as one half of Gypsy and The Cat. The first solo album as Sonny Ism came following his move to Denmark. And now the new record is inspired by a move mid-pandemic to a Swedish island. We are more than a little bit jealous. The first tastes of the new record are very much influenced by the new environment Xavier and his partner have been enjoying, with wildlife and landscapes very different to those experienced during his Antipodean upbringing. ‘This Modern Life’ is moody and reflective but still danceable, while ‘Time 4 Love’ is warmer, almost soft disco. Album well and truly pre-ordered.
