The newest kids on the synthwave block are Driver (named after the protagonist from James Sallis’ classic book?) – and we wondered when the Aussies were going to get in on the action. They certainly announce themselves with a bang – ‘Sin City’ sounds way good for a debut single. Comparisons with The Midnight are inevitable but that’s a great sound to aspire to. The synths and production are top notch and Damion’s vocals have a Scandipop feel to them akin to The Sound of Arrows or The Lovers of Valdaro – excited for the EP which is on the way early in 2020. Can’t beat a purple skull artwork wise either.
