This was always going to be the synthpop event of the year and boy have these legends delivered. NINA and Ricky Wilde kick off their ‘Scala Hearts’ era (album release news soon) in spectacular fashion with the release of their ‘LA Dreamers’ single. This was the last song recorded for the project after everyone thought the record was in the bag. It’s a moment of brilliant inspiration and a perfect example of how this collaboration is such an equal partnership. They both bring such a unique dynamic to the table and ‘LA Dreamers’ has so much of their respective musical personalities on display and in the mix.
We’ve known what a charasmatic vocalist Ricky is and it’s wonderful that he’s sharing that gift at last. Likewise NINA demonstrates what a versatile singer she is and they blend so effortlessly into one.
There are so many 80s pop culture references on ‘LA Dreamers’ – from Tears For Fears to Starship to Miami Vice and beyond. NINA makes this love letter to Los Angeles so tragically romantic with the yearn in her vocal.
This really is just the beginning and trust us when we tell you there is so much more to come when ‘Scala Hearts’ is revealed.
