Owl Eyes – Love Run Dry

Owl Eyes – Love Run Dry

Here’s the third and last of my recommendations further to my Antipodean jaunt. Owl Eyes has just released her album Night Swim in her homeland and it’s stunning. An epic electronic sound, not a million miles away from Ellie Goulding but somehow with a bit more charm (sorry Ellie).

Emma Louise – Boy

Emma Louise – Boy

Without doubt my best find from my Australia. There’s more than a nod to her countrywoman Sia on this track from her just released debut album Vs Head Vs Heart. As well as Sia, the album has moments recalling Feist and also the cinematic feel of Lana Del Rey. Really hoping Emma Louise graces UK shores this year.

Touch Sensitive – Show Me

Touch Sensitive – Show Me

I love you how one artist leads you to another. From Anna Lunoe I now find Touch Sensitive. Jeez I just can’t get over how the Australians have it licked as far as laid back electronic grooves right now. Out on Beatport now and iTunes shortly.

Anna Lunoe & Flume – I Met You

Anna Lunoe & Flume – I Met You

This is the track by which I discovered Flume. I’m now realising that Anna Lunoe makes some beautiful sounds all by herself. Yet more blissed out perfectly gorgeous Australian beats.

Florrie – Live A Little

After lots of self released stuff in the past couple of years Florrie has some big label support this year and she is going to fly. Girl drummers are the coolest by the way.

Jessie Ware – Imagine It Was Us

Loving Jessie Ware’s funky side which comes through on this track from the repackaged version of her awesome Devotion album. She’s such a class act and can do no wrong right now.

Daft Punk – Get Lucky

Single of the year so far. The Nile Rodgers trademark guitar absolutely makes the track. Surely the most eagerly anticipated album of the year.

Flume – Holding On

Flume – Holding On

I can’t tell you how many times I played this song through my headphones whilst sat on the gorgeous Australian sand, staring out to sea and contemplating life. This Sydney youngster is a bit of a bedroom DJ hero. And his is another album which has made the journey from Australia to the UK in my little suitcase.

Robert Delong – Global Concepts

Robert Delong – Global Concepts

I caught this video on MTV Australia but didn’t see the name of the artist. It drove me mad because  the song stopped me in my tracks and I had to have it! Eventually tracked it down and have brought the album home with me – it’s one of many I’m looking forward to hearing this week.

Birds of Tokyo – Lanterns

Birds of Tokyo – Lanterns

I’m back! Had a wonderful few weeks away and it was wonderful to soak up some sun Down Under. I have so much new music to share with you. This song was everywhere in Australia and it’s the song which will always remind me of my magical trip. These guys are new to me but are very established in their homeland. This track is from their most recent album and I hope you enjoy it.
